A Miami corporate sales manager has claimed a $1 million Powerball prize after purchasing the winning ticket in Hinesville.

Bobby Latham, 41, matched the first five numbers from the Nov. 21 Powerball drawing, winning $1 million, according to the Georgia Lottery. He purchased the quik pik ticket at Parker’s at 58 Old Sunbury Road in Hinesville while visiting family for Thanksgiving.

Latham told lottery officials he discovered he’d won after he returned home.

“I realized I didn’t win the Powerball, so I was about to throw it away,” he said. “When I got home, I double-checked online.”

Latham said he intends to put money aside for his 8-month-old son’s college education.

The winning numbers from the Nov. 21 Powerball drawing were: 8-18-24-30-39 and the Powerball was 26.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is at an estimated $50 million to a single annuity winner.
