A great white shark named Mary Lee is headed for Tybee Island.
A tracking device attached to the 16-foot-long, 3,500-pound shark "pinged" this morning just after 9 local time and again just after 11 indicating Mary Lee had surfaced twice off Tybee. Her position and her travels are reported on the web site of Ocearch, a nonprofit group that sponsors shark research.
Ocearch also has a Facebook page where lots of folks have chimed in on what might be luring this mega fish to Tybee. Lunch at Mrs. Wilkes and the Crab Shack are among the suggestions.
