Georgia DOT maintenance crews will be closing a single lane of U.S. 17 at the Back River Bridge between the Talmadge Memorial Bridge and the South Carolina state line, starting 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Tuesday, weather permitting. This temporary lane closure will be used for maintenance work on bridge approaches and sealing pavement joints.
Crews will lead both north and southbound motorists through this work zone with a pilot vehicle while the northbound U.S. 17 lane closure is in place. Motorists should pay close attention to the flagmen and the Georgia DOT pilot vehicle and do not attempt to pass the pilot vehicle.
This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary. Message signs, barrels or cones will be used to alert the public of the upcoming changes.
