The man suspected of shooting another man near Factors’ Walk on Thursday evening turned himself in to Savannah-Chatham police late Friday night.
Police spokesman Julian Miller said 18-year-old Charles Mobley surrendered at police headquarters, where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and lying to police to impede the investigation.
Mobley is accused of shooting 25-year-old Maurice Baker in the foot about 6 p.m. Thursday night in the area between Bay and River streets near Barnard Street.
Miller said Baker told investigators Mobley had robbed him twice in nearby Yamacraw Village earlier in the week. The two opened fire on each other after crossing paths Thursday.
After Baker was treated for his gunshot wound at Memorial University Medical Center, he was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Police have since charged him with aggravated assault, Miller said.
