Divers still search for clues in St. Simons death

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — Divers on St. Simons Island will soon resume searching for evidence in the drowning death and shooting of a Glynn County commissioner.

The Brunswick News reports (http://bit.ly/VPw8QX ) divers will go back to combing the Frederica River for clues in the Dec. 11 death of Commissioner Tom Sublett in the coming week after they took last week off for Christmas.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Mike McDaniel says powerful currents in the river are making the search difficult. He says investigators dropped a 12-pound weight into the river near where Sublett's body was found. Within days the weight moved 40 feet.

A friend found Sublett floating beside a docked boat after he failed to come home late at night. An autopsy showed Sublett drowned after suffering a gunshot to the head.
