Savannah-Chatham police are asking for help identifying and locating an SUV that struck a pedestrian and drove away Sunday night.

Hongli Zhang, 43, and her husband, Ping Guo, were crossing the northbound lane of Apache Avenue at Shawnee Street about 6:48 p.m. when a gold SUV struck Zhang and left the scene, said police spokesman Julian Miller.

Zhang was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries, Miller said.

The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is searching for a light gold Dodge Durango from the 1990s that should have damage to its front left corner and its left side-view mirror.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020. Those with information can also text CRIMES(274637). Tipsters to CrimeStoppers remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
