An Effingham County child struck by a hit-and-run driver on New Year’s Eve has been identified as Jordon Mydell, age 3, of Rincon.
The sheriff’s office initially reported the child was a 6-year-old.
Mydell remains in Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. The injuries are not life threatening.
According to witness reports, the child was crossing Ga. 21 from the Goshen Apartments towards the Parker’s gas station when he was struck by the vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled northbound in what was described as a white SUV or van, with a partial plate Bky. Earlier reports had the child traveling in a different direction.
