Savannah-Chatham police have asked the public to help them identify four men who assaulted a convenience store employee while robbing the business Dec. 22.
Detectives said the four masked men entered the Ashkar Food Market in the 5400 block of LaRoche Avenue about 8 p.m. that night and ordered four employees to get on the ground and turn over the money from the store, said Julian Miller, police spokesman.
When one man didn’t move quickly enough one suspect struck him with a gun, Miller said.
The suspects — all black males in dark clothing — escaped in a gray Honda CRV. The car was located by Islands Precinct officers shortly after the robbery, Miller said.
The incident was captured on the store’s surveillance system.
The man who was struck during the incident was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
