Savannah-Chatham police are asking the public’s help in identifying two women they believe have worked as a team to rob people in cities acrossGeorgia.
On Aug. 1, the women entered the vehicle of a woman at Savannah Mall and ordered her to drive to her bank and withdraw money, said Julian Miller, police spokesman. The suspects hid their hands from the victim, implying they had guns.
One of the suspects followed the victim into the bank while she made the withdrawal, Miller said. The women then instructed her to return to the mall where they stole the victim’s jewelry, exited the vehicle and walked into Target.
At least one of the women has been identified as a suspect in a similar robbery in Perry. Investigators believe the suspects have also operated in Augusta and Kingsland since the end of July.
One suspect is described as a black female in her 40s, 5’ 1” to 5’ 2” and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. The other is a black female 5’ 5” to 5’ 7” and weighing 200 to 225 pounds. At least one of the suspects is believed to wear a wig, Miller said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
