Run to Remember
9 a.m. Jan. 18. Mustard Seed Church, 1950 Chatham Parkway. The 51 officers who have died in Chatham County will be remembered when 26 recruits graduating from the SCMPD Patrol School lead other officers, volunteers and family members on a 1.5-mile run Jan. 18. Runners will begin assembling at the parking lot near the Mustard Seed Church about 9 a.m. and begin the run about 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to participate. Sheriff Al St Lawrence will be one of the guest speakers.

Mountainfilm festival begins
7 p.m. Jan. 18. Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St. The Mountainfilm festival opening night will be Jan. 18. Films include “Moonwalk,” “Industrial Revolutions,” “Blue Obsession” and more. There will be a Q&A session that will feature two special guests from the athlete-driven international humanitarian organization, Right to Play: Kate Greenburg, RTP ambassador from NYC headquarters, and Joey Cheek, Olympic gold and bronze medalist speed skater and co-founder/president of Team Darfur, an international coalition of athletes committed to raising awareness about the crisis in Sudan. Cost is $10 for adults; $8 for students, military and seniors; and $5 for the Saturday matinee.
HeartBeats for Life-GA night out
6:30 p.m. Taste of India, 401 Mall Blvd. Please join us for a dinner and some relaxed conversation with your fellow HeartBeats for Life-GA members Jan. 22. We are using this as a fundraiser. Teddy Bear Toss
Jan. 18. Calvary Day School. Calvary Day School is hosting a Teddy Bear Toss on Jan. 18 to benefit The Children’s Hospital. The toss will take place in between the girls varsity and boys varsity basketball games, about 7–7:15 p.m. The event is open to the community and those bringing a new teddy bear wrapped in plastic will receive a discount off the ticket price to the game.
