Six Savannah residents were displaced from their Victory Drive home after a large fire broke out in its kitchen Saturday afternoon.
Savannah Fire firefighters were able to quickly limit the blaze to the kitchen area after they were called to the home in the 700 block of Victory about 2 p.m., but other portions of the home received water and smoke damage forcing the fouradults and two children from their home, said Harry Walker, Red Cross Disaster Action Team spokesman.
The Red Cross provided the family with a hotel room and funds for food. Walker said the volunteers also gave the children stuffed toys to keep them calm.
No one was injured in the blaze, Walker said.
