Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade
10 a.m. Jan. 21. Downtown Savannah. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Day Parade, featuring more than 285 entries, will celebrate the legacy of the civil rights icon in downtown Savannah. The parade will start at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Anderson Street; head north on MLK to Broughton Street; head east on Broughton Street to East Broad Street; and finally head south on East Broad Street, ending between Liberty and Jones streets. Pine Gardens meeting
7 p.m. Jan. 21. United Baptist Church, 2310 Causton Bluff Road. The Pine Gardens Neighborhood Association will meet Jan. 21 at United Baptist Church. Issues involving the betterment of the community will be discussed. All neighbors are welcome.
Senior Citizens Inc.’s Annual Blanket Drive
Through Jan. 31, anyone donating a new blanket at the following Starbucks coffee stores and at SCI headquarters will receive a coupon for a free tall cup of coffee from Starbucks. Locations include: 49 E. Montgomery Crossroads; 2106 E. Victory Drive; 1 E. Broughton Street; 5500 Abercorn St. (Twelve Oaks Shopping Center); and 7804 Abercorn St. (Oglethorpe Mall).
Habitat Savannah announces dates for applications
Habitat for Humanity Savannah has opened its 2013 Habitat Homeownership application process. Eligibility is limited to Chatham County residents who have completed and submitted applications before the 5 p.m. Jan. 21 deadline. Applications submitted after that deadline will not be considered. Applications are available online at www.habitatsavannah.org/apply.html or at the organization’s office at 1106 E. 70th St. A receptacle containing applications is placed on the front porch during the pre-application acceptance period, through Jan. 21.
Sisters Network

Sisters Network is a national organization committed to raising awareness about the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community. Lantana Trio and friends in concert
7:30 p.m. Jan. 21. Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church. The highly acclaimed Lantana Trio, recognized for its wide range of musical styles and appearances in concert halls and chamber music series since 1996, will appear in concert at the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church on Jan. 21. The doors open at 7 p.m. A free will offering is available for those who wish to contribute. All proceeds go toward the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church music program.
Call for artists
Lutheran Services of Georgia invites you to bring out your artistic creations for the Charity Art Auction scheduled for Feb. 28, 2013. We welcome 5 x 7 submissions - whether they be photographs, paintings, watercolors, oils, ceramics - for judging. Other sizes to be auctioned are also welcome.
