Deadline for 2013 Rebuilding Together Savannah
Homeowners who live in their homes and cannot afford to make repairs may be eligible for assistance from Rebuilding Together Savannah and may apply for work to be done in the spring of 2013. Applications must be completed and returned by October 31, 2012. Call Rebuilding Together Savannah at 912-236-2022 to request an application by mail, or email: rebuildingtogethersavannah@gmail.com. Detecting and Mapping Invasive Species
10 a.m.-12 p.m. Aug. 27. Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens, 2 Canebrake Road. The Early Detection and Distribution Maps System run by the UGA Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health is an innovative web-based mapping tool which can be used to document the distribution of invasive species across the United States and help identify leading edges of new infestations. This training session will go over the basics on how to use the system with your smartphone or hand held GPS unit. We will also discuss identification of the most prevalent and high priority invasive species in the coastal Georgia region. Please call 912-921-5460 to register or e-mail Liz at elubrani@uga.edu. SCAD Museum of Art to offer free admission to active duty military personnel and families this summer
In honor of the brave men and women who serve their country through military service, the SCAD Museum of Art is pleased to announce its participation in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America, to offer free admission to active duty military Personnel and their families this summer through Labor Day 2012.
The free admission program is available to active-duty military and up to five family members.
