People needing to dispose of prescription drugs in the Savannah area can do so at the Armstrong Atlanctic State University Police Department.
The Medical Association of Georgia recently selected Armstrong to be Savannah’s year-round prescription drug drop-off location, said Emily Belford, university spokeswoman.
The AASU Police Department, at 11935 Abercorn Street, has set up a permanent drop box that will accept any prescription drugs from any person any day of the year completely confidentially, Belford said.
The box, Belford said, was made possible through the Think About It campaign, a program of the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation, that offers permanent solutions to help eliminate the abuse and improper disposal of unused prescription drugs.
Disposed drugs may be in or out of a container, but needles are not permitted, Belford said. All items will be collected and destroyed by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
