Savannah-Chatham police are asking the public to help identify a man and woman who stole a tiki statue from the Crab Shack.
The pair on Jan. 16 entered the restaurant’s property but did not eat or purchase anything, said Julian Miller, police spokesman. They focused particular attention on the statues in front of the building.
Miller said while they were there the woman showed New York identification to the staff. She was described as a slender, 5’ 8” white female with long hair wearing jeans, a spaghetti-strap shirt, and sandals.
The male was described as about 6-foot, slender and wearing jeans, a loose-hanging plaid shirt and a cap. Both appeared to be in their early 20s, Miller said.
During the night Jan. 16, they returned to the Tybee Island eatery where the woman grabbed one of the statues and placed it in a late-model, four-door pickup truck with two-tone paint, a brush guard on the front and lights on top of the cab or a roll bar, Miller said.
All of the pair’s actions were caught on surveillance cameras on Crab Shack property.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
