John W. Franklin to speak at Armstrong

Franklin of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture to speak at noon Feb. 4. His presentation is titled “The Impact of the Smithsonian Museum on History and Culture.”

New Beginning Youth Art Exhibit
Feb. 4. Gallery S.P.A.C.E., 9 West Henry St. The Savannah Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will host its 12th Annual New Beginning Youth Art Exhibit beginning on Monday, Feb. 4, at the Gallery S.P.A.C.E. In recognition of the juried artwork of talented middle-school and high-school students, an opening reception will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gallery S.P.A.C.E. During this reception, winners will be announced whose artwork best captured the 2013 Black Heritage Festival theme, “Living the Legacy.” The Exhibit will run through Friday, March 1.
Call for artists
Lutheran Services of Georgia seeks artistic creations for the Charity Art Auction scheduled for Feb. 28. We welcome 5x7-inch submissions for judging, whether they be photographs, paintings, watercolors, oils or ceramics. Other sizes to be auctioned are also welcome. Items need not be framed.
