MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle in Marietta was not in a crosswalk.
Marietta police say the pedestrian was hit shortly before 9 p.m. Monday near U.S. 41 and Allgood Road, temporarily closing the southbound lanes of U.S. 41.
Officer Michael Gardner says the man, whose name was not released, was struck in the roadway by a 56-year-old Cobb County woman. The man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he died.
Gardner tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/VFR5EU) that the driver is not expected to face charges.
