Old Fort Jackson President’s Day Celebration
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 16. Old Fort Jackson. Old Fort Jackson will interpret the American Revolution, War of 1812 and Civil War throughout the weekend. Artillery demonstrations will occur at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with other demonstrations happening when necessary. Admission is $6.
Book launch

Dresser Palmer House, 211 E Gaston St. A murder mystery that is the first of a trilogy by local author Duncan Whitehead will be officially launched Saturday. “The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club” is centered around the daily doings of a group of four dog owners who gather to enjoy a cocktail and let their dogs play. These women are friends who have shared secrets, gossip and now death as one of them has passed away and changed all of their lives forever.

‘The Shadow Man’ Book Trailer Competition 2013
Through March 11. Savannah author and physician Dr. Mark Murphy is announcing a web-based book trailer competition for his thriller, “The Shadow Man.” Trailers (1-3 minutes in length) should take advantage of the Savannah setting while incorporating aspects of the city that are present in the story. The iconic cover shot of the Forsyth Park Fountain at night must be incorporated into each video as well as links to the author’s website and Facebook page. ‘Potable Gold: Savannah’s Madeira Tradition’

Health Careers Summer Camp
July 21-27. Armstrong Atlantic State University’s College of Health Professions announces its inaugural College Health Careers Summer Camp scheduled for July 21-27. The camp is for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in a career in health care. The Health Careers Summer Camp is an excellent opportunity for high school students to explore a career path and get a taste of college life. While students are attending camp, they will stay in one of Armstrong’s residence halls and become immersed in the college setting. To apply, students need a minimum GPA of 3.0 and PSAT/SAT score minimums of 530 in critical reading and 430 in math with an overall score of 1000. The required ACT scores are 24 in English and 18 in math, with a composite score of 21. The cost of the camp is $150, and the application deadline is March 15. JEA to feature Marcia Neblett and Beth Baronian
Feb. 1-28. The Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St. The JEA will show the works of Marcia Neblett and Beth Baronian during February. Neblett prints play homage to masterful printmaking of the past while being of their own time and sensibility. She is a professor of foundations at SCAD. Baronian received a full scholarship to Carnegie-Mellon University to pursue a master of fine art in the field of costume design. Professor Beth Baronian is now teaching full-time at SCAD.
