The sixth annual Savannah Book Festival wrapped up Sunday with a sold-out closing address by best-selling author David Baldacci at Trustees Theater.
Thousands of people turned out for the four-day event.
The festival's executive director, Robin Gold, released this statement Sunday evening:
"Early estimates indicate that we had an excess of 10,000 people at the 2013 Festival and we are always humbled by how many book lovers respond to our festival — we believe it is a combination of our high caliber authors and the forum we give them to present individually to attendees then meet them at the book signings. Of course, the wonderful charm and hospitality of Savannah is a big factor and the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers: the festival only has two employees — one of whom is part time."
