SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A flood warning remains in effect for communities along the Ogeechee River.
WTOC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/W5LRgt) the flood warning includes parts of Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Tattnall, Toombs and Appling counties. The warning was still in effect Monday and was expected to continue for at least a few more days.
According to the National Weather Service, the river had already passed its flood stage of 9 feet by 8 p.m. Sunday and was at 9.6 feet. It could rise to near 11.2 feet by Thursday afternoon and could rise beyond that.
Minor flooding has already affected some areas. Lower floors of homes and businesses begin to flood and boat rams and campgrounds are affected at 12 feet.
