Chatham County is still in a flood warning because of the rising Ogeechee River, Chahtam Emergency Management Agency reports. As of 2 p.m. the Ogeechee River at Eden reached 11.3 feet. Minor flooding is occurring; however, at this time no roadways are blocked nor have there been reports by public safety officials of homes affected.
The river is expected to rise to near 11.4 feet this afternoon and then begin a slow fall. CEMA recommends residents remain cautious because more rain is expected on Friday and Saturday. Depending on the location and the amount of rain, the river could begin to rise again. At 12 feet, the bottom floor of some homes at Morgan’s Bridge could begin to flood. CEMA continues to monitor.
