The Ogeechee River is nearing three feet above flood stage at Eden according to the National Weather Service.
The Weather Service reported Sunday at 12:15 p.m. the river depth was 11.67 feet. The official flood stage is 9 feet.
According to water.weather.gov the river will likely continue to slowly rise for the next several weeks and has at least a 25 percent chance of reaching a stage of more than 14 feet by mid-March.
In a statement released last week by the Weather Service when the river reaches 10 feet, the DNR boat ramp at Morgan’s Bridge near the Bryan County - Chatham County line on Hwy. 204 is no longer accessible. Late Sunday morning the ramp was completely submerged.
Despite the rise in the river no houses in the Morgan’s Bridge appeared immediately threatened.
