ATLANTA — Police say a student accidentally shot herself in the leg in the parking lot of her midtown Atlanta high school.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos says the 17-year-old female student at Grady High School sustained a gunshot wound to her thigh around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities say she was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Campos said the gun belonged to the girl, but he did not know if the girl had the gun inside the school at any point. Police recovered the gun.
Campos said the shooting happened between two buildings on the campus of the school on Charles Allen Drive.
Few other details were immediately available.
