Savannah Gardens will hold an open house from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday to showcase 11 new homes along Crescent Street and the newly named Inspiration Way.
The two-story homes, the first ones in Savannah Gardens' single-family area, are part of an eastside redevelopment effort to improve housing and spur private business growth. Savannah Gardens, a combined development of rent-assisted, senior and fair-market housing, replaced the old, World War II-era housing known as Strathmore Estates along Pennsylvania Avenue. The city, Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. and First Citizens Bank are partners in the project.
