BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — A used-book sale to benefit a coastal Georgia library turned up a couple of rare and valuable editions.
The Jacksonville Times-Union reports (http://bit.ly/12jYoFf ) the big catch at the Friends of the Brunswick-Glynn County Library sale was a collection of magazine articles from Harper's Weekly published from 1860 to 1865. Troup Nightingale of the library boosters' group estimated the collection was worth $1,500.
Another prize among the sale's typical stock of well-worn donated books was a 1957 first-edition copy of Dr. Seuss'"How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Nightingale says the book sold for $90 but "it could be worth three times that."
Proceeds from the book sale, which ran from Wednesday through Saturday, go to the Brunswick-Glynn County Library.
