The Ogeechee River was still above flood level Sunday afternoon in the Coastal Empire.

The water level was at 13.64 feet early Sunday afternoon, said Kelly Harley, spokeswoman for the Chatham Emergency Management Agency. Flood stage for the Ogeechee is 9 feet.

The water level in the river is expected to peak at 13.8 feet overnight, and water should start dropping after 1 p.m. Monday, Harley said.

Moderate flooding is occurring in the Eden area of Effingham County, said Emily Timte, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Charleston, S.C.

At 13.5 feet, she said, several home and a picnic area on Yarbrough Landing Road are at risk for flooding.

Harley and Timte said no major problems resulting from the flooding have been reported to their organizations.

Harley said CEMA plans to do a flyover of the River on Monday.
