A 22-year-old woman has been charged with the Jan. 22 shooting death of a teenager on Savannah’s southside.

Adrienne Marie Jackson of a Lucian Circle address was arrested at her residence Thursday night and charged with murder and aggravated assault in the death of 17-year-old Evan Colquitt, police reported.

Colquitt, of a Triton Court address, died of multiple gunshot wounds at Memorial University Medical Center after the 6:45 p.m. shooting in front of a house on Sharondale Road in the Windsor Forest neighborhood, where several people, including the suspect and victim, had gathered.

Police at the time had determined an altercation occurred in the area and Colquitt was running away when he was shot.

Police spokesman Julian Miller said the suspect was identified during a nearly two-month investigation by homicide detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division. That investigation continues to determine further details of the shooting, he said.

Colquitt was the second murder victim of 2013.

While in custody at the Chatham County jail, Jackson was read her rights Friday afternoon over a monitor by Chatham County Recorder’s Court Judge Claire Cornwell-Williams. No bond has been set.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 20 before Judge Harris Odell Jr.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A confidential tip line also is open directly to investigators at 912-525-3124. Callers preferring to speak directly to the detectives without reward potential can arrange private discussions.
