A Rincon man suspected by police of a shooting in Savannah over the weekend turned himself in Sunday.
Cori Rayshan Hines, 27, turned himself in to detectives with the Savannah-Chatham police department’s Southside Precinct and was booked in the Chatham County jail, said Julian Miller, police spokesman.
Police believe Hines shot a woman at her apartment in the Oaks at Brandlewood Apartments on Garrard Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Miller said.
The woman was released from Memorial University Medical Center later that day, and police sought Hines on a warrant for aggravated assault.
On Saturday, Rincon police were advised a black Toyota Camry that Hines was driving was in the parking lot of Effingham Parc Apartments complex at Town Park Road.
There, Rincon police made several attempts to contact him at the apartment and elevated the situation to a barricaded gunman standoff, calling in Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies and the Savannah-Chatham SWAT and K9 teams, as well as Rincon Fire and EMS, Miller said. After several hours, however, it was determined that Hines had left the building.
