Savannah-Chatham metropolitan police are investigating a shooting this morning and a potential connection to a vehicle crash across town shortly after.
Sam Barnes, 47, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of injuries from the 2:47 a.m. shooting. He told police he was walking on Barnard Street near West 32nd Street when two men in a silver Toyota Scion drove up and one of them began shooting at him.
About 40 minutes later, Central Precinct officers were called to a house on the 4700 block of Herty Drive in Sylvan Terrace subdivision where a silver Scion had crashed into the back yard.
Two males were removed from the wreckage and transported to Memorial.
Police spokesman Julian Miller said Violent Crimes detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and possible ties to the crash.
