Homicide investigators from the Savannah-Chatham police department are looking for a 28-year-old man in connection with a Saturday morning fatal shooting.

John Antonio Smith is wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and fleeing to elude after Sidney Grant, 32, was shot to death outside Club Frozen Paradise on Indian Street, said Julian Miller, police spokesman.

Grant was found dead in the street by Downtown Precinct patrol officers responding to a shooting call about 2 a.m.

Smith is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds with short to medium hair and may have a slight moustache, Miller said.

In addition to the charges above, detectives would like to talk to him about the shooting of Grant, Miller said.

Police are asking anyone with information on Smith’s location to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A confidential tip line also is open directly to investigators at 912-525-3124.
