Tybee Arts Association to perform ‘Til Beth Do Us Part’
March 22, 24, 29, 30 and April 5-7. Black Box Theater/Tybee ARTS Center, 7 Cedarwood Drive. The Tybee Arts Association Performing Society has scheduled its first play of the year, a rollicking comedy on the perils of being too busy and delegating too much. In “Til Beth Do Us Part,” a harried home executive hires Beth to be her assistant and as Beth takes over all decisions and aspects of the couple’s life, her husband and friends attempt to intervene — come see the solution! Friday and Saturday evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees start at 3:30 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before seating for socializing and viewing the art on display. Robert I. Strozier Faculty Lecture: Is Our Food Killing Us?
Noon. March 22. Ogeechee Theatre, Armstrong Student Union, 11935 Abercorn St. Armstrong Atlantic State University presents the latest talk in the 2012-13 Robert I. Strozier Faculty Lecture Series. Armstrong professor of rehabilitation sciences David Lake will address questions raised in Michael Pollan’s acclaimed book, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” which is also the Armstrong Common Read book for the academic year. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Meditation retreat
Deep Listening In Challenging Times, led by Teijo Munnich, will include a Dharma Talk from 7 to 9 p.m. March 22. An offering is requested. March Into Spring
5-8 p.m. March 22. City Market. The artists of City Market will open their doors for “March Into Spring,” an evening open house on March 22. Visitors and locals are invited to take a break from the Tour of Homes and Savannah Music Festival to meet more than 40 renowned and emerging local artists. The evening will include art demonstrations, special sales and refreshments, all taking place in City Market’s distinctive ground level and upstairs studio galleries. The event is free and open to the public.
Lenten Fish Fry
5-8 p.m. March 22. St. Peter the Apostle Parish Center, 7020 Concord Road. The Islands Council of the Knights of Columbus will host its annual Lenten fish fry March 22. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dine in or carry out. All proceeds go to the Knights of Columbus Islands Council charities.
Garden Club Association Convention
March 22-24. Crosswind Golf Club and the Hilton Garden Inn. The theme is “The Sky is the Limit.” The public is invited to the luncheon at noon March 23, which is $25, and to the banquet at 7 p.m., which is $35. There will also be a workshop on recycling by Nathaniel Glover from the city of Savannah at 3 p.m. in the Oak Room at Crosswinds Golf Club. The flower show opens to the public from 1:30-10 p.m. March 23 in the Savannah-Chatham Room at the Hilton Garden Inn. StarGuard Lifeguard Course
Chatham County Aquatic Center, 7420 Sallie Mood Drive. Chatham County Aquatic Center will host a StarGuard Lifeguard Course on March 22-24 and April 5-7. Skill requirements include: swim 200 yards, one-minute water tread with no hands and ability to dive and retrieve a 10-pound brick from 9 feet of water. CPR and first aid included.
