A Savannah man today was indicted on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals by fatally shooting a pit bull dog mix with a pistol.
James Harris Wrenn, 71, shot the female dog known as “Baby Girl” in the head and face on June 4, 2012, the Chatham County grand jury determined.
The same panel also indicted Wrenn for shooting the same animal in the right leg on the same day.
The four-count re-indictment obtained by Assistant District Attorney Sneh Patel included a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon based on an Aug. 1, 1989. conviction in Superior Court on a charge of theft by deception.
The indictment also included a new charge of false swearing, charging that Wrenn, under oath on a gun permit application, denied being convicted of a felony.
