An Atlanta native with a passion as a change agent will begin on Monday as director of operations for the West Broad Street YMCA.
Tameika Porter, 34, will fill the new position as right-hand person to Peter Doliber, executive director/CEO.
“This is a big step for us that we are growing to the point that we actually need one more person in management and continue to provide more services for people in need,” Doliber said.
“Her goal and passion has always been to be an agent of change and to positively affect the lives of students and to make a difference in the community.”
Porter had been living in Statesboro for the past 12 years and is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelors of science in secondary education and a masters in public administration with an emphasis in nonprofit administration.
For the past six years she worked with the Upward Bound Program at Georgia Southern, and she served as director over the Kingdom Builders Tutoring Program, which is affiliated with Bethesda House Outreach Ministries.
