Author, restaurateur and entrepreneur Paula Deen will receive a key to the city of Bentonville, Ark., this week as she travels to support the community’s charitable giving.
Deen is a longtime supporter of a range of charitable causes and is preparing to launch her own foundation later this year. This week, she will help the American Heart Association launch their weekend of activities, including their annual Heart Walk event in Northwest Arkansas.
“I love the community of Bentonville and in my travels there have always found the warmest, most generous community. It is an honor to help the Heart Association support their event and as one of their missions is to encourage all children to get more physically active and eat healthier, that’s a personal mission of mine as well,” says Deen.
Deen and her husband Michael Groover will accept the key to Bentonville from Mayor Bob McCaslin on Friday afternoon. Later that evening, Deen will guest at a kick-off event and reception supporting the American Heart Association’s Southwest Chapter.
The American Heart Association’s Annual Northwest Arkansas Heart Walk brings together the community and raises one million dollars each year to support the organization’s activities.
“We are honored to have Paula Deen join us for this wonderful event and appreciate her support of our Heartwalk,” says Stephanie Daniels, Corporate Market Director, American Heart Association.
Paula Deen's new book from Random House "The New Testament" will be released this October and later this Spring, Deen will bring her first-ever Paula Deen Foods products to market; sharing pantry items and fresh meal solutions with consumers across the country.
