Brian Harman is hoping for a home golf course advantage in a couple of weeks.
It was announced Friday the Savannah native has committed to play in the RBC Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, S.C., on April 15-21.
“(I’m) really excited about playing in the tournament on Hilton Head,” said Harman in a text message Friday.
Harman has another tournament on his mind right now. He is currently playing in the Texas Open in San Antonio and is tied for 15th — five shots off the pace of leader Bill Horschel — after shooting a second-round 3-under 69 on Friday.
Harman, 26, played in his first Heritage tournament at the age of 17 while still at Savannah Christian.
He competed in the tournament two years later after winning the 2005 Players Amateur.
Last year, he returned to Hilton Head as a professional and made the cut but struggled in the final round to tie for 70th.
Harman finished his first year on the PGA Tour by making 21 of 30 cuts and earning $1,146,448.
After 12 events this season, he has made seven cuts and pocketed $227,614. Harman is a University of Georgia graduate and will join his former Bulldog teammate Harris English in the Heritage field.
