One person was hospitalized early Friday morning when he was shot during an apparent robbery attempt about four blocks east of Forsyth Park.
The victim, whose wounds were considered non-life threatening, was shot while on the back porch of a house in the 500 block of East Waldburg Street just after midnight, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Three men in dark clothes with scarves covering their faces approached the victim and several other people gathered on the port and ordered them to lay down, Miller said. When the victim did not immediately comply one of the two armed assailants shot him.
Miller said the suspects then fled the scene.
Savannah-Chatham police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
