A Savannah drug recidivist faces a prison term without parole after a jury last week convicted him of sale and trafficking in cocaine and related charges.
Edward Tyrone Chisolm, 36, was convicted by a Chatham County Superior Court jury on April 18 on two counts of sale of cocaine, trafficking on more than 28 grams of cocaine, use of a communications facility for criminal use and possession and delivery of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Chisolm will remain in jail pending sentencing by Judge Penny Haas Freesemann at a later date. Because Chisolm is a repeat offender, he will be required to serve his sentence without parole
Assistant District Attorney Noah Abrams told jurors that between late September 2010 and early October 2010, Counter Narcotics Team agents conducted three controlled buys of cocaine from Chisolm. On Oct. 8, 2010, they executed a search warrant at the East 65th Street home of Chisolm’s girlfriend, Angelia Ratcliffe, and found packets of power cocaine prepared for distribution, cash and a .44 Magnum firearm, he said.
Ratcliffe earlier pleaded guilty for her involvement in the scheme in return for a negotiated plea-sentence of 10 years in prison.
