ATLANTA — Georgians are invited to dispose of unwanted prescription medication during national prescription drug take-back day.
The event is scheduled for April 27 and Grace Trimble, of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, says more than 30 collection centers will be established in the metro Atlanta area. Trimble says officials will be collecting unused, unwanted and expired medication.
Trimble says trace amounts of pharmaceutical and personal care products have been found in rivers, lakes and streams and researchers are probing the potential impacts the pollutants may have on the environment and public health.
