Savannah-Chatham police investigators have launched a criminal investigation after finding a man dead in his wrecked car early Thursday morning.
The wounds discovered on the body of 38-year-old Roderick Richardson, of an address in the 500 block of Early Street, were inconsistent with the severity of the single-car wreck police found him in, said Julian Miller, police spokesman.
Richardson was found around midnight in a wrecked Honda that had crashed into a chain-link fence that surrounds Hodge Elementary School at Mills B. Lane Boulevard and Hopkins Street, Miller said.
Richardson was transported to Memorial University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Miller said violent crimes detectives are continuing to investigate the case.
