Georgia Southern safety J.J. Wilcox conducted an individual workout for the Dallas Cowboys after the college football season. The Cowboys must have liked what they saw.
On Friday night, Dallas selected Wilcox in the third round of the NFL draft.
Wilcox was the ninth Georgia Southern player ever taken in the NFL draft and first since David Young was nabbed in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003.
Wilcox was the highest draft pick of an Eagle player (80th overall), topping the fifth-round selection (159th overall) of Kiwaukee Thomas by the Jaguars in 2000.
