Savannah-Chatham police are asking the public to help identify a witness who may have information about the Sept. 30 murder of a Savannah teenager.
Violent crimes detectives Friday released a photo of a light-colored sedan whose driver may have witnessed something the morning 18-year-old Amber Deloach was found dead inside a burning car near Yamacraw Village, said Gena Bilbo, police spokeswoman.
The car appears to have five-spoked alloy wheels and license plates on the front and back.
It’s the second time police have asked for the public’s help in the case.
Last week, the public helped police locate a man they wanted to question.
That man, who Bilbo said was located and interviewed, was seen that morning about 6:15 p.m. — 15 minutes prior to Savannah Fire & Emergency Services responding to the car fire — at a gas station a few blocks away from where Deloach’s body was found in the black Dodge Avenger off West Oglethorpe Avenue near West Boundary Street.
Bilbo asked anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the photo or knows its owners to call CrimeStoppers at 912-34-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
