A 23-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested last week and charged with the March break-in at a local elementary school that resulted in thousands of dollars of damage.
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Campus Police on April 18 arrested Dominic Morris, 23, and Christopher A. Dudley, 17, after information provided to CrimeStoppers indicated they were responsible for the break-in sometime between March 22 and 25 that left major damage inside White Bluff Elementary School, said Campus Police Chief Ulysses Bryant.
An investigation was launched into the incident after school officials found heavy damage including 20 smashed computer monitors, broken windows and toppled shelves inside the school. Additionally, police said, the suspects defaced school property using both spray paint and fire extinguishers and broke furniture in the media center and several classrooms.
Bryant said campus police charged both Morris and Dudley with interference with government property and burglary, both felonies. The two were booked into the Chatham County jail April 18 and have since been released on $5,000 bond, and their cases have been bound to Chatham County Superior Court.
“We had some really good CrimeStopper information come in from the community,” Bryant said. “We were able to go out and connect the dots and put together a really decent case.”
