The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a coastal flood advisory for beaches located in south coastal South Carolina and north coastal Georgia, which is in effect until 9 am Sunday.

High tide will reach 6.9 to 7.1 feet mean lower low water in the Charleston harbor and 9.0 to  9.2 feet mean lower low water at the Savannah River entrance this morning. This will result in shallow coastal flooding up and down the coast.

Shallow salt water flooding will occur in flood-prone areas within the tidal zone. Some streets in downtown Charleston will flood but streets should remain passable. Area beaches will become inundated. Highway 80 between Wilmington Island and Tybee Island will remain passable although water may approach in spots.

A coastal flood advisory indicates winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas at and near the coast.
