The FBI and Savannah-Chatham police are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a man suspected of attempting to rob a Skidaway Road bank Friday.
On Tuesday, Savannah-Chatham police released surveillance photos of a man at the east entrance of the Carver State Bank in the 7100 block of Skidaway identified as that suspect.
The photos show a black male in a blue, hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman Eunicia Baker said the man is about 5-foot-6 with a slim build.
Baker said officers responded about 10:30 a.m. Friday to reports of a man armed with a pistol trying to enter the bank. Employees, however, locked the eastern door of the bank and successfully kept him out of the branch. The suspect fled the scene on foot traveling eastbound without getting any money.
Anyone with knowledge of the gunman’s identity or location or who has any other information about the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637).
