Savannah officials announced today that the city's government channel is launching a new regular show this weekend about the people, places, history and happenings that reflect the city's diversity. Called Engage, the show is a partnership between the city and the greater Savannah community.
Engage launches Saturday morning with a television marathon on SGTV (Channel 8 for Comcast customers) that will run through the Memorial Day weekend.
The first installment of Engage includes profiles of five Savannah artists by Ally Hilliard; the entire offerings of the Savannah Arts Academy’s 2013 Film and Media Festival; a showcase of short animations by students from the Savannah College of Art and Design; a sample of works from students at the Nobis Project’s Digital Media Institute; two short films by local filmmaker Caleb Suttles; and a documentary profile of and a hip-hop theater production by the nonprofit AWOL (All Walks of Life), a Savannah-based non-profit that provides arts and technology education for at-risk youth and uses art and hip-hop as a vehicle for social change among youth populations.
SGTV is seeking insightful and well-crafted profiles, documentaries, animations, original music videos, histories or other original works by or about the citizens of Savannah to run on Engage. We are also interested in collaborating with filmmakers, artists, musicians and others in producing original content for the program. While the City does not offer compensation for such programs, SGTV does offer an opportunity to expose local works to a wide audience. More than 55,000 households in Chatham County have access to SGTV.
To submit a proposal, visit www.savannahga.gov/engagesgtv and fill out the form. The City reserves the right to reject any programming that does not meet our content requirements.
