Roller Girl Boot Camp
Aug. 3-4. Garden City Gym, 160 Priscilla Thomas Way/Wheathill Road, behind Groves High School. The Savannah Derby Devils are offering a weekend version of their Roller Girl Boot Camp Aug. 3-4. Experience the fun and joy of lacing up a pair of roller skates and learning introductory skating and derby skills taught by veteran Derby Devils. Savannah Voice Festival
3-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Westin Savannah Harbor. The Savannah Voice Festival kicks off with an introduction to the artists in a full day’s offerings of opera arias and songs. Get to know the singers and enjoy a tasting of great music at this concert. Rummage sale
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3. Greater Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1006 May St. The Women’s Missionary Society will host a rummage sale Aug. 3 at Greater Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church. Uniform Sale
11 a.m. Aug. 3. Godley Station K-8 School Gymnasium, 2135 Benton Blvd. Godley Station K-8 School PTA will be hosting a community-wide uniform sale Aug. 3 for all families with students attending Chatham County schools during the 2013-14 school year. Families will be able to purchase approved uniform shirts, pants, shorts, jumpers and skirts for $3 per top (light blue and white) and $5 per bottom or jumper (khaki and navy blue). Shoes for School give-away
10 a.m. Aug. 3. Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 622 E. 37th St. The Shoes for School program is a nonprofit that provides children from financially challenged families a new pair of shoes to start the school year. The child(ren) must be enrolled in a Savannah Chatham County Public School, pre-K through 8th grade, and families must meet income eligibility requirements. Shoes for School and its partners, Lutheran Services of Georgia, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Advantage Insurance and Another Adventure Daycare, are asking for donations of new shoes in any size, boy and girl styles. Shoe donations can be dropped off at any of the above businesses. The shoe give-away will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.
