Townhall on Voter’s Right Act and Voting
7-9 p.m. Aug. 9. First African Baptist Church, 23 Montgomery St. The Philip A. Randolph Institute, Dunham Report, Central Labor Council, and Chatham County Young Democrats will host a Press Style-Town Hall Meeting to inform the public how this ruling will affect Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, and the United States as whole. An informed panel will be present to explain the Supreme Court decision and answer questions from the audience.

Volleyball Tryouts
3:30-6 p.m. Aug. 5-13. Groves High School volleyball tryouts are going on now, Aug. 5–13 from 3:30–6 p.m. Interested ladies must have updated physical packet, knee pads, and work out attire. Contact Coach Puckett at 912-395–2520 or email debra.puckett@sccpss.com.

Organ recital
7:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Messiah Lutheran Church, 1 W. Ridge Road, Skidaway Island. This concert could change your mind forever about organ music! Renowned musician Dan Miller will delight you with a witty, fun and almost orchestral performance. Miller’s gifted career embraces the entire gamut of musical artistry. Registration set for fall art classes
Ellie Cowan of Sweet Art Studio announces her fall art class registration. The two hour classes will be conducted weekly for the novice or experienced painter, and are ongoing throughout the year. Bring a friend, form a group of friends and enjoy discovering your talent for art. Beginners who have never painted are welcomed. Supplies are included or you may bring your own. Cost $20 per session. Children’s classes, art parties and portrait drawings are also available, costs may vary for these sessions. ‘The Versatility of Pinot’ wine tasting

Savannah Voice Festival
8 p.m. Aug. 9. Westin Savannah Harbor. VOICExperience presents an elegant night at the opera with a sneak peek into the 2013 Savannah Philharmonic Season’s opera production followed by an opportunity to meet the artists at a post-performance reception. This event is in artistic collaboration and cooperation with the Savannah Philharmonic and Chorus, and this production will appear in the 2014 opera production. Tickets are $55.
