MARIETTA, Ga. — Police in suburban Atlanta say the principal of a private Lutheran school faces charges of child molestation.

Jack Duane Hibbs, 57, was the principal of Faith Lutheran School on Lower Roswell Road in Marietta at the time of the alleged crimes. Police said a teenage boy told police he was molested by Hibbs at a residence in east Cobb County. Police didn't say whether the boy was a student at the school.

Hibbs, of Marietta, was being held Thursday morning in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on four counts of aggravated child molestation involving the boy. There's no attorney for Hibbs listed in jail records.

Hibbs is listed as principal for the 2012-2013 year on the school's website. An email sent to the address listed there and phone calls to the school and church weren't immediately returned. A phone call to the St. Louis-based Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod wasn't immediately returned early Thursday.

Cobb County police are asking for the public's assistance in helping them to identify any other possible victims, Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a statement.
