ATLANTA (AP) — The King Center, along with the city of Atlanta and other community partners, plans a special event to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic "I Have a Dream" speech.
The Atlanta Global Freedom Exposition is planned for Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. Among those scheduled to attend are King's daughter, Bernice King, who is the CEO of The King Center, U.S. Rep. John Lewis and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.
The expo is free and open to the public. Organizers say the expo will include social, financial and religious organizations and feature story-telling, musical performances and oral history recordings.
