OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — A Georgia violin teacher once accused of improperly touching a female student in Alabama won't have to register as a sex offender.

WTVM-TV (http://bit.ly/NMDFCA ) reports that Mario Urbina of Columbus, Ga., avoided the registration because of a plea deal earlier this year.

Urbina pleaded guilty in Lee County, Ala., in April to a charge of interfering with custody of a child. In return, prosecutors agreed not to try him on charges of sexual abuse or enticement.

Because of the deal, Urbina won't have to register as a sex offender.

A lawyer for Urbina hopes the man can teach violin to children again, but he won't be allowed to teach in Alabama

Urbina is serving four years on probation. He was accused of improperly touch a girl in Auburn.
